Arefco has wide range of capabilities to solve problems for customers or improve the performance of the working product and can manufacture the designed product in a number of ways.
Typical materials: – Nitrile, Hydrogenated Nitrile, EPR, FEPM and Fluoroelastomer. Arefco manufacture a range of products in the compression moulding department ranging from a few grammes to over a ton in weight and from a few millimetres to over 1.25 metres in diameter.
Arefco specialise in rubber to metal bonded components and high pressure spring seals.
Rubber Injection Moulding.
Typical materials: – Nitrile, Hydrogenated Nitrile and EPR
Arefco manufacture gate valve seat seals where the metal seats are either manufactured by Arefco or supplied free issue from the customer, the rubber is then bonded to them on fast cycling Injection moulding machines which give high quality and consistent mouldings.
Medium to high volume rubber seals, in a variety of materials, are also supplied into a number of industries manufacturing pumps, valves and pipelines.
PTFE, PEEK and other materials are used to manufacture a variety of specialist seals for the Oil and Gas industry; these are supplied into applications where high and low temperatures, high pressures and wear are an important consideration.
In-house design and tooling manufacture.
Arefco have an engineering design team where customers can either supply details of their application and Arefco will produce design and detailed drawings of the proposed sealing system or they can work directly from the customer’s component drawings.
The designs can then be taken directly to their own in-house tool making facility, where the majority of production and development tooling are manufactured.
This facility also allows them to produce sample or experimental tooling as well as carry out regular maintenance on existing tools.
Metal cleaning and bonding facilities.
The success of rubber to metal bonding depends on its metal preparation process and Arefco have a system where the metal components are shot blasted where required, then chemically cleaned and coated with a bonding agent.
This process is carried out in-house near to the main production area to minimise the time between bonding preparation and moulding.
Pressure testing facilities are available at Arefco. These are carried out to either the customer’s procedure or an Arefco proposed procedure and the recorded results are supplied to the customer. Witness testing is an option.
Springs manufactured from PEEK.
Some of the Arefco high pressure spring seals now have a PEEK spring instead of a stainless steel spring. This design was developed to reduce the wear and damage to the seal in dynamic applications and increasing the life of the seal which in turn reduces down time.
In-house cutting facilities.
Recent investment in a large band saw machine which is used to produce split packers has enable Arefco to keep this process in-house, reducing lead times and giving them greater control.
Standalone metallic component manufacture.
Recent investment in a large CNC lathe with Live Tooling gives Arefco the capability to manufacture the complementary housings associated with large sealing solutions or standalalone metallic components. Size capability is 62″ diameter, 16ft length, 22tn component weight.
